Pretty wicked....I dont think so!!.....first off that drive shaft running across the motor is such messed up design...who in the hell wants a big driveshaft running across your engine bay...and second thing I love in the ad..is thats is OBDIII compatible...uhhmmm....who here wants to write these guys and tell them there is no OBDIII smile...I think they have alot more R&D to do!!

Personally, I like it. I think it is about time someone else made a system to compete with the JRSC. I wonder if the drive shaft is inside a housing or if it is exposed? That would make a huge difference to me safety and longevity wise.

The ability to cool the intake after the blower is a definate plus. Too bad they didnt make one for my integra 6 months ago.

This car/setup was reviewed in the March 2000 issue of Car and Driver. There are big benefits IF they have worked out the bugs now. The car DNF. Here's what they found (excerpts):

"One of the pistons vaporized, Vortech afterward informed us, after prolonged high-rpm running caused the engine to begin running lean."

"After throwing on a Thermal Research & Development cat-back exhaust system , Vortech claims that drive-wheel horsepower grew from 131 hp stock (Honda claims 160 at the crank) to a full 195. Vortech estimates crank output of this prototype at 225 hp. When it goes into production, Vortech expects that the supercharger system will run about $4000, which would bring the total engine job to slightly less than $5300."

"Low-end torque is still minimal, but at 6200 rpm when the VTEC cam kicks over, the car feels as though a rhino on meth[amphetamine] has just head-butted it from the rear."

"Vortech is still developing this supercharger installation. Now that it knows that sustained hypervelocities are a problem, it has an opportunity to fix that. Once that's been addressed, if our guesstimates are accurate, this may prove to be a dominant setup in import drag racing."

As I pointed out earlier in this post the quotes are only excerpts. Please read the full article if you want the total story. There are also reviews of 5 other tuner cars including a S2000 and ITR.

CIVICR, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a guy running a Vortech SC on a H22/civic hatch/blue? The car is very FAST and has about 6 money-winner stickers on the back window. We've seen it in Orlando and at Moroso.

Lip: Care to explain that? I'm curious.

Processor speed is so fast and i believe the plugs are different. (whatever obd number you want to call it (how about obd 2 part b?) that the program to adjust changes to maximize aftermarket products is high as hell. Spoon makes one for the s2000 but the price is crazy. Same for all models listed below.

S2000's, 99+ SI's, 97+ Preludes, and 00+ Type R's. Not so easy to program but then again....i haven't worked on them.

    "Low-end torque is still minimal"...

because centrifugal superchargers take longer to spool up, and they also create more heat, so you'ld better have an intercooler.

Lip....I know there are different plug styles...and processing...but its still OBDII...for a company to make a quote like that refering to OBDIII makes them sound un-informed...GREY...the drive shaft is exposed...and I think a poor design...and will probaly do wonders for the harmonic balancing of the motor...I they wanted to do it right they should have done enough R&D to get it to fit on the opposite side of the motor....eliminating the need for the drive shaft...CHILI....yes the guy with the blue civic hatch has a Vortech charger with a H22A swap...the setup is totally custom and completely designed by him...the charger is mounted in the area where the A/C compressor usually resides...he is making over 300 at the wheels with that unit at 8psi...the car is very fast!!!...guys im not downing the Vortech...but I have seen in past magazine articles with it mounted on the belt side of the engine compartment...thats the way to go!!!

Lundgren....Please explain your thought on spooling with the Vortech SC....since it is belt and gear driven off the motor like the Eaton...I would think that there is no spool time???...how is that possible??
